Club History
Founded in 1996, San Francisco Hibernian was formerly Martin Macks FC. We take the name SF Hibernian from ‘Hibernia’, Latin for Ireland. The club has deep roots in the Irish, English and Scottish communities, and today we are comprised of new and senior players from across the world.
In 2015, the SF Hibernian Men’s team joined forces with the SF Fuego Women’s team to become the combined SF Hibernian Football Club. SF Fuego was originally founded in 1999 and has a long involvement with Women’s football in San Francisco.
Our Men’s team plays competitive football in the SFSFL Premier Division, while our Women’s team plays in the Premier Division of the GGWSL. Both our teams are always on the lookout for talented and committed players to join our team. For more information on how to get involved, check out the 'Players Page'.
In addition to taking things seriously on the pitch, we also have an established history of making sure we enjoy a pint or two after games and encourage people to come down and join us at Danny Coyle's.

Our Leagues
The SF Hibs Men's Team plays in the San Francisco Soccer Football League (SFSFL). Established in 1902 (two years before FIFA), the SFSFL is recognized for its professional/semi-professional level of play. The SFSFL is affiliated with California Soccer Association-North and the United States Adult Soccer Association. USASA stamped SFSFL on the soccer map as the home for Elite Premier League in Northern California. Click here for more info.
SF Hibs Women’s Team plays in the Golden Gate Women’s Soccer League (GGWSL) which is regarded as the elite level of women’s football in San Francisco. GGWSL is also affiliated with California Soccer Association-North and the United States Adult Soccer Association. Click here for more info.
Both leagues showcase talented players who have played at high levels and aspire to continue playing competitively. Players arrive from around the world, creating a culture as unique as a World Cup environment, with a diversity of languages, customs, styles of play, and skills.
